İnan Birsel

Müzik endüstrisinde yirmi yılı aşkın deneyime sahip besteci İnal Bilsel, müzik, görsel sanatlar ve anlatısallığın bir karışımını yaratıyor. Nostalji, bilim-kurgu ve hauntolojiden esinlenen çalışmaları, dinleyiciyi bu unsurların bir arada var olduğu bir dünyaya davet ediyor. İkinci albümü Paradise Lost ile İnal, tüm müzikal ve sanatsal deneyimini, kurgusal bir dünyaya sahip anlatısal bir konsept albümde müziğe olan bakışını ortaya koydu.

İnal Bilsel'in geniş portföyü elektronik, çağdaş klasik, film ve deneysel müzik gibi çeşitli türleri kapsıyor. Tales From The Future adlı görsel-işitsel performansları, Lefkoşa'da tanındı ve Sonar İstanbul, Salon IKSV, Fengaros, Farma Projekt, Buffer Fringe, Electric Cicadas, Maki Fest gibi dünya çapında birçok festival ve mekânda sergilendi. 

Royal Holloway, Londra Üniversitesi ve Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi'nde kompozisyon eğitimi alan İnal Bilsel, orkestra, oda müziği ve solo eserler besteledi. 2007 yılında Notion Uluslararası Beste Yarışması'nda büyük ödülü kazandı ve ‘Nilay's Dream’ adlı eseri Londra Senfoni Orkestrası tarafından seslendirildi ve kaydedildi. Bundan sonra ilgisi elektronik müzik, synthesizer ve bilgisayar destekli müzik üretimine kaydı.  İnal Bilsel, solo çalışmalarının yanı sıra Fehmi Öztürk'ün A Mother's Sonata ve Free Fun, Sholeh Jahrei ve Kamil Saldun'un The Hunt ve Letters From Cyprus, Doğuş Özokutan ve Vasvi Çiftçioğlu'nun The Delivery ve Random attempts gibi kısa filmlerinin müziklerini yaptı. 

Royal Holloway'de müzik kompozisyonu alanında doktorasını tamamladıktan sonra ARUCAD'da Ses Sanatları ve Tasarımı bölümünün başına getirildi. Burada müzik teknolojisi, ses teorisi, kompozisyon ve müzik tarihi de dahil olmak üzere geniş bir yelpazede dersler vermektedir.

Inal Bilsel is a renowned composer with over two decades of experience in the music industry. He is work takes inspiration from, nostalgia, science-fiction, and hauntology, blending of music and visual arts and narrativity. With his second album, Paradise Lost, Inal established his take on electronic music, culminating his entire musical and artistic experience into a narrative concept album with a self-contained world. Inal Bilsel's portfolio includes electronic, classical, contemporary, film, and experimental music.

In his hometown Nicosia, Inal Bilsel is known for his audio-visual performances, Tales From The Future, which he has showcased in a variety of festivals and venues home and abroad, such as Sonar Istanbul, Salon IKSV, Fengaros, Farma Projekt, Buffer Fringe, Electric Cicadas, Maki Fest, and many others. Inal Bilsel studied music composition at Royal Holloway, University of London, and Eastern Mediterranean University, and has composed a range of orchestral, chamber, and solo pieces.

He won the grand prize of Notion International Composition Competition in 2007, and his piece, Nilay's Dream, was performed and recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra. After this, his interest shifted to electronic music, synthesizers, and computer-aided music production.  In addition to his solo work, Inal Bilsel has also scored music for short films such as A Mother's Sonata and Free Fun by Fehmi Öztürk, The Hunt and Letters From Cyprus by Sholeh Jahrei and Kamil Saldun, and The Delivery and Random attempts by Doğuş Özokutan and Vasvi Çiftçioğlu.  

Following the completion of his Ph.D. in music composition at Royal Holloway, he was appointed as the head of the Sound Arts and Design department at ARUCAD where he is lecturing on a broad area of topics, including music technology, sound theory, composition and history of music, to name a few.
